CNAs/HHAs

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide direct care to patients in various healthcare settings, focusing on assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic healthcare tasks. Their duties include helping patients with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and monitoring vital signs.CNAs also play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and clean environment, reporting changes in patient condition to nurses, and offering emotional support to patients and their families. 

  • Personal Hygiene: Helping patients with bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

  • Mobility: Assisting patients with walking, transferring between beds and wheelchairs, and using mobility aids like walkers or canes.

  • Eating and Drinking: Serving meals, assisting with feeding, and monitoring food and fluid intake.

  • Toileting: Helping patients with using the toilet, changing diapers, and emptying bedpans.

  • Monitoring Patient Health:

  • Vital Signs: Taking and recording vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.

  • Observation: Observing and reporting any changes in patient condition, such as skin breakdown, pain, or changes in behavior.

  • Medication Reminders: Reminding patients to take medications as prescribed, but not administering medications (unless specifically allowed by state law and facility policy).

  • Infection Control: Following infection control procedures to prevent the spread of illness.
